- The Gossip – Will be playing festivals in 2012, and without Glastonbury the band are expected to land at either Reading or IOW
- Enter Shikari – Will be playing festivals in 2012, and who’d bet against another appearance
- Billy Talent – At RamR, word is they’re likely for Reading, if Sonisphere and Download haven’t beaten FR to the punch.

- Lostprophets - No officially word, but the band have continually expressed an interest in playing this year.
- Glasvegas - Playing Bilbao BBK rumoured to make Reading return in 2012.
- The Klaxons - Were tipped for a Reading return, just cancelled a date in Spain to focus on new album. Remaining dates appear uncertain.
- Red Hot Chilli Peppers – Their management have stated that they will be focusing on their own dates, although they remain linked to Sonisphere Festival
- Radiohead – Thom Yorke has suggested that the band will stick to their own shows this summer. Have been announced European Festivals but still appear unlikely
- The Darkness – Headlining Isle Of Wights other stage and their own UK date, appear unlikely for the time being.
- Rammstein – Are expect to return to the UK this summer in some capacity – David
- Soundgarden – Announced for Download, were expected to appear at Sonisphere Festival.

- The Prodigy – They seemed locked in for a while, but they’re only playing Download Festival. In a rumoured last second switch.

- Noel Gallagher – A Special guest at Isle Of Wight, he shouldn’t be ruled out in a more limited festival season.
- Biffy Clyro – Considered favourites to sub headline Reading at one point, but surprised everyone by announcing a special guest slot at Isle Of Wight. Have also been announced for Download Festival.
- Ed Sheeran – Will be playing Mallorca Rocks and with his propensity for perpetual gigging he looks a certainty to return to Reading & Leeds, if V don’t nap him first.
- Two Door Cinema Club – Would certainly be testing the Reading audiences patience but by announcing a date at Mallorca Rocks we know they’ll be in the mix come summer.
- Franz Ferdinand – Headlining Field Day Festival in London and playing Primavera Festival in Barcelona could this be the year the former headliners return to their rightful home?
- Death Cab For Cutie – At Primavera, a natural enough fit for R&L
- SBTRKT – Has to be a top contender to headline the dance tent with a sold out date at London’s KOKO and a big slot a Primavera already announced
- The xx – Are officially back in business in 2012, strong candidates to sub or headline the NME Stage. A hot commodity on the festival circuit.
- A$AP Rocky – An art house favourite who made his way onto the BBC’s Sound Of 2012 list. A potential Carling Stage or Dance Tent act.
- The Vaccines – Are returning to Isle Of Wight for a second year running, no reason to think they won’t do the same at Reading Festival
- Noah And The Whale – Have been announced for Isle Of Wight Festival.
- Skrillex – The most hated man in Dub Steps name is being thrown around in relation to a lot of different festivals including Reading
- MIA – Has been announced for Rock Am Ring, appears likely for Reading, but never taken anything MIA for granted
- Tenacious D – Will be playing Festivals this year, but we expect Sonisphere and Download to lead the charge for the comedy duo.
- Linkin Park – Never say never, announced for RamR and with The Prodigy situation they’re now an outside bet for Reading (we wouldn’t get your hopes up though)
- Razorlight – Playing Thetford Forrest have dodged Reading since 2007 infamous performance.
- The Gossip – At Exit Festival, don’t rule them out.
- Wolfmother – At Exit Festival, name in circulation for both Reading and Sonisphere.
- Snow Patrol – at Bilbao BBK
- Warpaint – Playing Bilbao BBK, could they make it three Readings in a row?
