Live Review: Wu Tang Clan (Glastonbury,The Pyramid Stage)

Wu Tang Clan
15:00, Friday, The Pyramid Stage
Since the early 90’s Wu Tang Clan have proved they are one of the heavyweights of Hip Hop music and the group took to the Pyramid Stage on Friday afternoon for their first ever Glastonbury performance. Opening with the grimy “Bring Da Ruckus” they showed that they intended this performance to be a lively one, unfortunately the majority of the crowd didn’t seem to agree. With an audience which appeared to comprise solely of Daily Mail readers and people who seemed to have found themselves lost on their way to watch The Vaccines on the Other Stage the Wu had no chance from the start. It was a real shame as despite ploughing through a hit filled set with a rough charm and the fantastic stage presence of Clan member Method Man, nothing could get large chunks of the crowd moving. Classic Single “Gravel Pit” lifted the mood briefly but with the rain starting to pour on Worthy Farm it washed away any hope of the Wu Tang Clan pulling off what could, on a different day, have been a classic festival performance.
