Live Review: Viva Brother (Glastonbury, The Other Stage)
I caught both sets, why not? On The Other stage they proved themselves, suggesting a future of playing the biggest stages. Viva Brother owned the stage; they really do have the energy it takes to carry a set on the giant Other Stage, Lee himself even admitting; ‘This is a big stage’.
After few sound issues with wires being pulled out of amps and Lee screaming into his microphone, they made the ‘Wonder wall, Oasis’ joke and got the crowd moving. I was standing in front of a few fan-boys who where causing some girls distress, those girls walked away a few minutes muttering ‘Brother are not even that fit’, clearly just at Glastonbury to find rock star boyfriend. I also came across a hippy man waving a acid style flag, wearing a tiny women’s denim shirt and tiny tank top, he had very good legs too. Meanwhile, Viva Brother sang their big Slough hearts out, proving to the haters that Viva Brother are for real.
The second show was in the Oxlyers In West tent and was not so busy, not that I turned around from my front row position. The set was short and sweet and clearly Viva Brother ran out of time, but once again the slough four piece owned that stage, playing all their big hits.
Also, I would like to big up Grace, Viva Brother’s live backing singer, who deserves some credit for shaking her booty on stage in tiny leather shorts (leather, mmm)
Strictly Our Opinion: Viva Brother smashed both sets, they fully deserve to be subbing Peter Doherty on The Festival Republic stage on this evidence. [4.0/5.0]
