The Strokes have announced that they are already back in the studio after releasing their most recent album, Angles, earlier this year. Their bassist, Nikolai Fraiture spoke to NME earlier this week saying that they wish to ‘continue with the momentum’ that they’ve had up until this point. Fraiture mentioned that every gap in touring that they’ve faced recently ends in them being in the studio, but was hasty to mention that they feel in no way forced to continue making music.

Strictly Our Opinion: From this, we can gather that there is certainly a possibility of a few new songs coming our way when The Strokes play Reading and Leeeds Festivals. Fraiture also mentioned especially that the recent inclusion of Machu Picchu in their sets has been going down well with crowds, so expect it to be present in their set come August.

Angles had been described as The Strokes first real step away from the style of their definitive debut Is This It?, so any new material at Reading and Leeds may be a real indication of the direction the band intend to be moving in.
