Reading Festival and Leeds Festival Riots

So with all these riots going on we thought we’d better educate you about Reading riots and Leeds riots
- Firstly and most importantly – what happens at the festivals comes nothing close to a riot – it’s simply a few drunken kids looking for attention whilst not under the gaze of their parents
- Whatever trouble happens at the festival is incomparable to the trouble happening up and down the country at the moment and indeed, incomparable to any trouble you might find any other day of the week.
- No one has died as a result of any trouble at the festivals
- We’d be foolish to say that there’s not usually some trouble on the Sunday night so if you are worried, here’s some things you can do to help
- Stay with friends
- Don’t follow any crowds and don’t be part of a crowd – the idiots crave attention and if you’re hanging around, why should security not think you’re part of the problem?
- Being a vigilante sounds cool but it’s really not worth the hassle
- If you have transport sorted, pack up and leave so thatat least your posessions are safe
- Hope it rains – for some reason, a slight drizzle scares off anarchists
We fully understand if you are worried but there’s little to no reason to be. If you act with common sense then chances are that nothing will happen to you.
Naturally we’re not wearing rose tinted glasses here and accept that innocent people with common sense who follow all the rules may get caught in the crossfire. All we can say is to read the list above again, especially:
- If you have any valuables, pack them away safely somewhere.
- Stay with friends at all times at your camp
- If you have a car, pack everything away
- Don’t give them the attention they crave – stay away from any trouble
Some of have been going to Reading Festival since the early 1990′s and not once have we experienced any issues – maybe we’ve been lucky but at the end of the day, there’s no reason why a few idiots should spoil what should be an awesome weekend!!!
