Radiohead have announced their first headline festival slot of the summer at Portugal’s Optimus Alive Festival (12-15 July). The Oxfordshire band are expected to announce a series of UK dates in the coming weeks but had, up till this point, been considered highly unlikely to play any headline festival dates.

Otimus Alive Festival is a mixed bag festival that’s had headliners as varied as LCD Soundsystem, Rage Against The Machine, Bob Dylan and Coldplay over the course of it’s four year history.

The festival also happens to fall the exact same weekend as Hard Rock Calling, sparking rumours that they’ll be flying to back and forth between the festivals. The Portugese date is also one week after both Sonisphere and Wireless festival.
