Queen for Sonisphere?

The Daily Star is reporting that Queen with American Idol winner Adam Lambert on vocals will headline this year’s Sonisphere UK event.

Kim Dawson and James Cabooter reported the following:

“ROCK gods Queen are reforming again and I can reveal they’re headlining Sonisphere festival this summer.

Sonisphere’s line-up, which also includes metal veterans Faith No More, tours Europe before hitting Knebworth on July 6-8, scene of Queen’s final gig with Freddie in 1986.”
The report also saw the controversy baiting tabloid talk to Adam Lambert, the man charge with taking Freddie’s place, who explained the purpose of the reunion:
“The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f*****g great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of.”

Strictly Our Opinion: Wow we’ve heard the rumours but if this is true, well, frankly, we don’t know what to think. No one doubts Queen’s stature or catalogue, but without Freddie will the fans accept it?

The Faith No More news is easier to digest, we know from experience that they will steal the show live, but where will they fit on the bill. They headlined Download but only played Reading’s NME Stage. Wherever they land, we expect a fierce debate across the web.
