Peter Doherty Facing Potential 5 Year Jail Sentence
Having already survived one near miss after he was caught in possession of cocaine it appears Peter Doherty’s Festival Republic Stage headline slot could be in jeopardy once again, as he faces a potential five year prison sentence for robbery.
Doherty who is already serving one sentence, now stands accused of breaking into and stealing from Regensburg in Germany, where he allegedly stole a guitar and a record from the shop.
The ex-Libertines star was in Germany to film Confessions Of A Young Contemporary with Charlotte Gainsbourg, a movie where Doherty took the role of French poet and novelist Alfred de Musset, when the incident occurred.
Should Doherty be found guilty he could face up to five years in prison, but the singer-songwriter is vehemently denying the claims, admitting to The Sun that he broke the shop’s window but did not steal any content.
