New Video: Justice – “Audio, Video, Disco.”
It’s here. It’s finally here. They kept us waiting long enough. After dropping “Civilization” an eternity ago, the title track from their sophomore album has arrived fresh from Justice. The French outfit are continually requested to either headline the Dance Tent or play the NME tent (again), and many were left dissapointed when they weren’t announced in 2011, but now they are official back with this video for “Audio, Video, Disco.” we can all get our hopes up for 2012.
Musically, “Audio, Video, Disco” still pays homage to Daft Punk’s reinvention of cheese pop and Disco legacy (Disco-very, hardly subtle) and this track clearly looks to pop’s past, but a lot of the Justice trademarks have been ditched. The muscular club banger sound is gone, this track doesn’t smash or pound, there are no slamming synths, instead it builds gently, with staggered keys and a metronomic beat. It’s an interesting touch, that moves the band closer to Chromeo and Air than ever before, but will it satisfy the fans? You tell us.
