New Music: SBTRKT – “Ride To Freedom”

Everyone’s favourite man in a mask SBTRKT has dropped his final track of 2011, the B-side to “Hold On”, “Ride To Freedom”. It’s been a fantastic year for the post-dub step star who gave the world an entirely fresh take on soul; “Ride To Freedom”, however, is closer to jazz with it’s busy intricate layers and skipping beats and it’s sense of perpetual movement. The trademark SBTRKT whurs are still in place, but “Ride To Freedom” is far more intense sonically, if not emotionally, than anything on his self titled debut.
