“Plague” is a brand new track from Crystal Castles which, while it hasn’t been confirmed, is presumed to be taken from their forthcoming new album.
Crystal Castles (II) was a run away success, which spawned a series of massive hits and club anthems that actually managed to trouble the pop charts (well when Robert Smith jumped on board).
“Plague” isn’t a club banger, but it follows the latter album’s formula. The textures are more delicate and carefully constructed than on the band’s self-titled debut. Alice’s agression is used more sparing as she floats like a spectre deep in the mix. Speaking of the mix, this is some seriously murky 90s dance, and it’s the closest Crystal Castles have sounded to vintage trance, in well, forever.
