Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon debuted “Under The Westway” at last night’s War Child charity event at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. This Bowie-esque creeping piano ballad that recalls the emotional intensity of Blur’s brilliant endnote “No Distance Left To Run” was written “a few weeks ago up the road” according to Albarn .
Before launching into the track Damon joked that the track has “got alot of words”. “Under The Westway” offers new hope of a second Blur run after Alex James dampened expectations this weekend by speculating that Blur would not make a full time return.
Earlier today James Corden let slip that Blur will perform the longest set in Brit Awards (11 minutes) when they accept their Outstanding Contribution To Music Award on February 21st.
