New Bloc Party Material?
After speaking to NME at Latitude Festival, Kele Okereke, the lead singer of Bloc Party, has hinted at a possibility of the band working on some new material soon. This had been discussed by guitarist Russell Lissack earlier on this year, and now Okereke has indicated there will be new material by the end of the summer.
Strictly Our Opinion: Bloc Party are Reading and Leeds favourites, and have already be rumoured to be headlining next year as the 2012 ‘indie headliner’ along with Kasabian. The promise of more songs this year, and maybe even the possibility of an album can only strengthen these rumours. Their last album, Intimacy, was released in 2008, and since then the band have been fairly quiet with Okereke concentrating on his solo work. Following their experiences apart, and Okereke’s successful solo career, it was be interesting to see what approach they take with their music, especially after moving away from their more traditional guitar based sound in their last outing.
