M.I.A. and Romain Garvas really went to town in 2010 when they unleashed the ginger euthanasia video for “Born Free”, but they may have just topped themselves with this wonderful piece of juxtaposition. The “Bad Girls” video features a troop of bling laden Middle Eastern bad girls grinding, popping wheelies and wielding AK-47s.

The track which was originally taken from the brilliant Vicki Leekx mixtape has been re-edited for a single release; it has also produced an early contender for video of the year. Playful, ironic, beautifully shot, this is M.I.A’s return to form, a reminder of the glory days of the mid-2000s.

Could she return to Reading in 2011? Don’t rule it out, the Dance Tent is running out of high profile headliners.
