Reading head honcho Melvin Benn has confirmed that he already has two of next year’s headliners in the bag, and that he has strong ideas about the third and final act. He also let slip, that The Stone Roses are almost certainly not in his plans.
Speaking to NME Mr. Benn said:
“We’ve got two out of the three headliners already secured. The third – we know exactly who we want. We haven’t made the approach yet, [but] my feeling is they want to do it. My feeling is probably that they’re [The Stone Roses] are not on our list.”
Melvin went on to praise both Kasabian and the Foo Fighters before unveiling his plan for a new festival in 2013:
“I felt it would be nice to start a really tiny little festival and see how that goes…I’ve got some people I want to work with who I think will bring fresh and new ideas to the festival market and we’ll want to create a festival that’s different to everything else that’s out there.”
