Reading and Leeds chief Melvin Benn promised “terrific” headliners for 2012 when speaking to BBC Newsbeat.
He went on to say that he’s already booked some “very exciting bands” and that he “couldn’t be happier overall with where we’re going with all the festivals.”
Turning attention to Latitude he kept it coy simply saying: “I’ve just had a brilliant conversation about an act I was desperate to play Latitude and now I’m pretty sure will play Latitude.”
Strictly Our Opinion: Festival promoter promises great headliners! What a scoop!
Okay, so each and every promoter from PT Barnum to Michael Eavis have always promised great things, but if the heresay is to be believed, Festival Republic will be announcing Green Day and Foo Fighters as two of this year’s headliners. And you have to admit, even if your sick of those bands, and sick of repeat headliners, they’re two pretty big names.
