Glasvegas On Tour

Glasvegas changed the face of rock music in 2008, after five years of hard touring and slowly formulating their sound, the Scottish four piece burst onto the scene in early 2007 and we’re quickly dubbed “the greatest rock’n'roll band in the world” by NME.

So what made these four downbeat Glaswegians so special? The intense, and truly harrowing, catharsis of James Allan. Listening to a Glasvegas record was like being a fly on the wall of a psychiatrists office, hearing a young man forcibly relieving every deeply scaring encounter of life; every time he was bullied, every time he was neglected, every time he was heart broken, and every time he was suicidal. Rather than using witty word play or gentle alluding to a distant pain, Allan put it all out there, crying, straining and bellowing in his gruff and entirely addictive Glasgow accent.

The band’s sound was minimal but incredibly propulsive and “Geraldine”, “Daddy’s Gone” and “Flower’s And Football Tops” became abandonment anthems. Their live show’s were the stuff of legend, as Glasvegas broke down the wall between band and audience. The crowd would invest in the band emotionally; giving Glasvegas every drop of sweat and straining every sinew. In turn, James Allan would reward them with his spirit draining bellows and heart-wrenching tales.

Glasvegas topped of their rise with a legendary subheadline slot on Reading and Leeds’ NME tent, the performances went down in legend and made the band instant festival favourites. The band have been hotly tipped to return every since, and many expect to see the Glasgow outfit back in 2012.

2011 saw the band return with the frankly over produced new album EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\  which sees Glasvegas taking a stab a superstardom with a fuller sound produced by legendary Nine Inch Nails collaborator Flood.
