Elbow To Debut New Material At Reading And Leeds?
Elbow revealed that they are already working on their follow up to 2011′s top ten record Build A Rocket Boys! when speaking to the Daily Mail this week.
Guy Garvey told the paper that they already had a series of drum patterns down and that he intends to “go away next week and try and write lyrics for them”, although the singer warned that Elbow have never worked in this way before.
Strictly Our Opinion: This news could make Elbow’s return to Reading and Leeds even more newsworthy should the Mancunian outfit choose to reveal the direction of their next LP by debuting some new material. Garvey made it clear that the songs were in their formative stages and nothing may come of the tracks, but there will certainly be a great deal of interest in the new Elbow LP.
Many critics saw Build A Rocket Boys! as a personal, reflective, Garvey diven side step, rather than a full blown stadium sized follow up to Elbow’s Mercury Prize winning Seldom Seen Kid, so these new tracks may be the clearest indication yet as to whether Elbow will return to a big band driven anthemic sound.
