Glastonbury and the BBC’s coverage always produce a much needed boost in album sales and this year it’s the Reading and Leeds bands that have fared best.
Elbow have come up trumps, riding the waves of their career defining Pyramid Stage set they’ve seen the sales of latest album Build A Rocket Boy increase by 1751%!
While no one came close to matching that, Glasto’s other big winners were the ever popular Mumford & Sons (775%), Plan B (525%), and Coldplay whose spectacular headline set lead to 441% sales boost to their already multi-platinum back catalogue.
The biggest shock was the 396% sales increase that Biffy Clyro have enjoyed. Their set has so far been met with middling and some extremely negative reviews from both attendees and critics, but it seems the buying public watching at home were more than convinced to hit the stores.
It’s too soon to judge the Sunday night acts but Beyonce’s new album 4 and her recent albums I Am Sasha Fierce and B-Day are expected to soar up the album charts in the coming weeks.
