A spokesperson for BBC Introducing confirmed that the Kaiser Chiefs will be playing Reading and Leeds in 2012 during a interview on BBC Radio Berkshire.
The discussion, which featured Strictly Editor David Hayter, concluded when Berkshire’s BBC Introducing presenter Linda Serck revealed that she knew the name of at least one act who will definitely playing, The Kaiser Chiefs, saying:
“I know because I interviewed them recently, and they told me.”
Strictly Our Opinion: The news comes as no surprise as The Kaiser Chiefs were one of the bands along with Kasabian, The Cure and the Foo Fighters that Strictly Festival’s were told to expect come the announcement (although we know doubt the validity of the Green Day and Killers claims).
The real question remains: where will the Kaisers land? They’ve subheadlined Reading and Leeds twice, but have since fallen in popularity with reportedly low sales of their last two albums. The band were made for the Main Stage, and have a fearsome following in their home town of Leeds, but we’ll have to wait and see, they’re certainly a tricky one to place.
