89. Municipal Waste

21st Century Appearances: 2009 Lock Up, 2007 Lock Up, 2006 Lock Up

The Defining Reading Moment: The Confederate Flag tearing around a frenzied circle pit.

The band themselves boast that “Municipal Waste is gonna fuck you up!” and in their three Reading & Leeds appearances (2006, 2007 & 2009) that’s exactly what they did. Abiding memories of their shows in the festival’s Lock-Up Tent include a confederate flag and its bearer tearing around the circle pit to the band’s breakneck thrash, the band bringing out “The Inebriator” (a beer bong) to shove down the gullet of a member of The Casualties, and the next song being “about a shark!” What they brought to the festival was fast, sloppy, drunken silliness: The Art of Partying.
