81. Fear Factory

21st Century Appearances: 2001 Main Stage

The Defining Reading Moment: From start to finish, the crowd surfers just keep on coming during Fear Factory’s blistering 2001 set.

You will know when this industrial metal band is on stage, chants of “You fat b*stard” ring out happily for enigmatic founding guitarist Dino Cazares. That aside, it is unanimously agreed industry wide that Fear Factory have influenced the sound of modern metal for close on 20 years with their innovative fusions of death metal with various other metal styles. The consistently appreciated face melting band overcame legal issues to regroup, are on to their 8th studio album, and if Bill Ward of Black Sabbath desperately wants to play with them, they must be doing something right.
