Enter Shikari

21st Century Appearances: 2011 Main Stage, 2010 NME Stage, 2009 Main Stage, 2007 NME Stage

The Defining Reading Moment: Attempting to break the world crowd surfing record in 2009 with an electrifying performance of “Juggernauts”.

A debut album of such diverse sounds reaching number 4 in the UK chart is no mean feat. The Herts based foursome manage to uniquely combine electronica and drum and bass before with harsh metal core vocals, and STILL have you singing along and jumping about. Enter Shikari draw no obvious comparison to any other band for this reason. Zane Lowe announced ‘Sssnakepit’ recently in 2011 as the “Hottest Track In The World” on his radio show, and festivals worldwide sign em up constantly. They are one of only two unsigned bands ever to sell out London’s Astoria, the Darkness being the other. Enter Shikari must make the list. Fox James
