Announcement: The Lock Up and Dance Stages

The long awaited Lock Up line up has finally been revealed and we can officially say that Social Distortion and Less Than Jake will headline the 2012 event.

In a huge get Social Distortion will be returning to Reading for the first time since 1996. The legendary genre fusing punk veterans made waves with 2011′s comeback album Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes sparking rumours that they’d be back on the Lock Up. And honestly, how great will be to see Mike Ness on a Reading Stage?

Less Than Jake are more familiar, returning for their 6th R&L set. This will be the Ska-punk’s second stab at headlining the legendary Lock Up after they largely succeed against stiff competition in 2008.

Making the Friday that little bit more special will be veteran political punks Anti-Flag who will be backing up Mike Ness and Social D on Saturday night. On top of that are the usual mix of Reading veterans and punk upstarts. The highly touted Bouncing Souls return fresh from playing their entire backcatalogue in London, Gallows will be playing with Alexisonfire frontman Wade McNeil, the blistering pit starters Trash Talk are back, as are phenomenal Wilhelm Scream, and the highly touted Ceremony. (For the full announcement see above poster).

The Dance Tent was also rounded out with a serious of high profile announcements. The two biggest eye catching names were the nation’s party starting Rockstep stars Modestep and the art-house icon Claire Boucher, a.k.a. Grimes.
